Keep your equipment working at its best

Regular cleaning and maintenance will help keep your clippers and dryers running efficiently, safely and reliably. Following the manufacturer’s guidance on cleaning, lubrication and general care can prevent many common issues.

However, after prolonged use, accidental damage or a fault, your equipment may need professional inspection or repair.

Diamond Edge can help with servicing and repairs for a range of professional clippers and dryers. Where appropriate, we will assess the item and provide a quotation before carrying out chargeable repair work.

Clipper Care Guide

A little regular maintenance can make a major difference to the performance and lifespan of your clipper.

After each use, brush away loose hair from the blade, blade drive and front of the clipper. Check air filters regularly and clean them as required to maintain good airflow and reduce the risk of overheating.

Avoid winding the power cable tightly around the clipper. Instead, coil it loosely to help prevent damage where the cable enters the clipper or plug.

If the cable becomes damaged, split or worn, stop using the clipper immediately. Arrange for it to be repaired or replaced by a qualified electrician or an approved repair service.

For clippers in regular professional use, it is sensible to periodically check the blade attachment, blade drive, gearbox area and carbon brushes where applicable. Hair build-up, lack of lubrication and worn components can all affect performance.

When not in use, store clippers safely in a holder, case or secure position. This reduces the risk of accidental knocks, falls and damage.

What to do if you drop your clippers

If you drop your clippers, unplug them before carrying out a visual inspection.

Check the housing, cable, plug and blade assembly for obvious signs of damage. If there is no visible damage, you can switch the clipper on carefully and listen for unusual noises or vibration.

Stop using the clipper immediately if it:

  • does not switch on
  • makes unusual noises
  • vibrates excessively
  • smells of burning
  • has a damaged cable, plug or casing
  • no longer drives the blade correctly

Even when a clipper appears to be working normally after being dropped, internal damage may still be present. If you are unsure whether it is safe to use, do not continue using it—have it inspected by a qualified repairer.
