The Andis medium ceramic top plate is a replacement moving cutter for compatible fine-cutting detachable blades. It is the cutter component used with the blade sizes listed below, with ceramic construction to help reduce heat build-up compared with steel.

  • Blade assembly: the fixed comb blade and other assembly parts are not included.
  • Size description: medium identifies the replacement cutter type, not a grooming length.

Match the cutter to the blade size

Andis lists the medium cutter for blade sizes 40, 50, 40SS and 50SS, plus hairdressing sizes 000, 0000 and 00000. Check your blade's size and construction before ordering. For compatible No. 30, No. 15, No. 10 and longer blades, see the separate coarse ceramic top plate and its fitting list.

Replacing the moving cutter keeps the blade's nominal cutting length; it does not turn one numbered blade into another. If you need the whole cutting assembly, the CeramicEdge No. 40 is a complete blade with a nominal 0.25 mm cut.

Fitting and ongoing care

Follow the manufacturer's blade assembly and alignment instructions, and check that the fixed comb blade is in good condition. Use Andis Clipper Oil regularly, remove hair build-up and monitor temperature while clipping. Ceramic cutters can still become hot and need time to cool when necessary.
