The Spratts 69 is an extra-coarse grooming comb with 6 teeth per inch. Its widely spaced teeth make it a useful starting point when a finer comb feels too restrictive, particularly when separating sections of a full coat before more detailed combing.

Start with an open tooth pattern

Choose the 69 when spacing is your priority. A wider tooth pattern lets more coat pass between the teeth, but you should still work gently and stop if the comb catches. Once a section combs through comfortably, a closer-spaced model can help check the finish. Choose according to the coat in front of you rather than breed name alone.
