The Heiniger No. 8 1/2 clipper blade leaves approximately 2.8 mm of coat for a short finish. Its short, coarse teeth offer an option for groomers working with suitable coarser or more demanding coats, including selected clipped terrier styles.

A short cut with more coverage than a No. 10

The No. 8 1/2 leaves more coat than the Heiniger No. 10 blade (1.5 mm), but slightly less than the No. 7F finishing blade (3.2 mm). Compare these lengths when choosing a short body clip or blending a grooming style.

For terrier coats, decide whether clipping or hand-stripping is appropriate before selecting a blade. This blade cuts hair; it does not replace a stripping tool. Thorough preparation is still important, and the tooth pattern is not a reason to force the blade through mats.

Compatible with Heiniger Saphir and Heiniger Opal clippers; not Style Mini or Style Midi trimmers. Clear away hair, lubricate regularly and check blade temperature as you work.
