Choose your Home Coat King

  • Coarse 7 blade: a more open pattern for suitable thick coats.
  • Medium 10 blade: an option for suitable wiry coats.
  • Extra Fine 19 blade: a closer pattern for suitable fine or silky coats.

These are different blade configurations, not adjustable cutting lengths. Choose for the individual coat's texture, condition and grooming needs; dogs of the same breed can need different tools. Our Coat King buying guide explains the main selection principles.

Fixed blades: no replacement heads

The Home version does not have replaceable blades and does not take the spare blade sets listed for standard Coat Kings. If you want a replaceable head, browse the wooden-handle Coat Kings or the standard tools in the plastic-handle range.

Gentle coat maintenance

Use short, gentle strokes with the direction of hair growth on a clean, dry, prepared coat. Do not force the tool through tight mats or repeatedly work the same area. A Coat King can cut coat; seek specialist advice before use where a hand-stripped or show finish matters. Clear away hair after use and keep the head dry.
