Description
The Mars Coat King Extra Fine with wooden handle is designed for loose-coat removal and finishing work on suitable finer coats. The stainless-steel blades help remove loose undercoat and reduce bulk, while the choice of head widths lets you match the tool to the area being groomed.
-
Blade spacing: 1.5 mm (Extra Fine); this is the gap between blades, not a clipped coat length.
-
Construction: stainless-steel blades and a traditional wooden handle.
-
Maintenance: replaceable blade head.
Which Extra Fine size should I choose?
-
10 blades: narrow head for smaller working areas.
-
16 or 20 blades: standard options for controlled coat maintenance.
-
30 blades: wide head for broader areas.
-
60 blades: extra-wide head for extensive body areas.
The wider heads retain Extra Fine spacing. A 30- or 60-blade head is therefore not automatically finer than the 20-blade version. For closer spacing, compare the Super Fine Coat King; for another grip, see the Extra Fine plastic-handle version.
Choose head width with the size of the animal and the working area in mind; the widest option is not the most suitable for every dog.
Replacement blades and careful use
Order Extra Fine replacement blade sets by matching the grade, blade count and head width. Our Coat King buying guide explains the options in more detail.
Use gentle strokes in the direction of hair growth on a clean, dry, prepared coat. Avoid tight mats, delicate areas and repeated passes over the same patch. These are bladed tools and can cut coat; seek breed-specific advice where preserving a hand-stripped or show finish matters. Remove hair after use and store dry.
